§ 54-32. Compliance with article and other ordinances.

  • (a)

    It shall be the duty of every owner, operator or driver of a taxicab to comply with the laws of this state and provisions of this article and to ensure that every taxicab is operated with due regard to the safety, comfort and convenience of the passengers, for the safe and careful transportation of property and for the safety of the general public and require that all drivers or chauffeurs driving or proposing to drive a taxicab for such owner adhere to and at all times conform to the requirements of this article.

    (b)

    It shall be unlawful for any person to drive or operate any taxicab upon the streets of the city in violation of the provisions of this article or any other ordinance of the city. It shall likewise be unlawful for any owner or operator of a taxicab to knowingly permit or cause to be driven or operated upon any of the streets or other public ways of the city any taxicab belonging to such owner or operator by any driver or chauffeur who has not complied with or who violates any of the provisions of this article or any of the ordinances of the city.
