§ 14-201. Grandfather clause.

  • Any person who has an active license to engage in the business or profession of massage therapy issued by the city or county, or who has been officially determined to be exempt from the requirement of licensure in such jurisdictions, shall be exempt from the educational requirements of this article and shall be granted a license pursuant to the provisions of this article, subject to providing the finance director with the following:

    (1)

    Documentation of at least 100 hours of practical experience in each of the two previous years;

    (2)

    Three letters of reference from reputable persons, attesting to the sound moral character, professional qualifications and the competence of such person;

    (3)

    An application, along with the application fee, as specified under this division; and

    (4)

    Payment of the required privilege license fee.

    This section shall expire one year from August 11, 1997, after which time, if no application has been submitted pursuant to the grandfather clause, all individuals desiring to practice as massage therapists or desiring to operate a massage therapy establishment shall be required to fully comply with this article.
