§ 7.5. Political activity of officials and employees.

No appointed employee or official of the city shall be a candidate for any public office or any office or position in any political organization, unless he shall first resign from his position with the city. The filing or announcing as a candidate for any such office or position by any such official or employee shall ipso facto create a vacancy in his office or position [with] the city.
